Cool

I was fortunate enough to meet the general president of the IAFF Harold Schaitberger who was here for one day from Washington DC to speak at our convention. I was able to talk with the prez in the hospitality room at the Hilton and then again the next day for a picture with the kids from my program. Schaitberger often meets with top ranking officials including Barack Obama. His office is on the same block as the white house. It was a privilege to meet him and engage in a "kitchen table conversation". He seemed impressed with my youth program and wanted a picture with the kids.

APPFFA

Well I am glad this week is over! Local 771 hosted the Atlantic Professional Firefihgters Asoc. biennial convention. Deligates come from all the unionized fire depts. in the atlantic provinces. I had the task of running the youth program.

Vacation

Well I spent the first 3 days of my vacation on the laid back west end of Prince Edward Island. We went with the Olsens and stayed at Jay-man's family cottage over looking the salty water of Mill river. While we were there Jay-man and I were lucky enough to be able to catch a round of golf at the famous Mill River golf Resort where this past season of "The Big Break" was filmed. Nicest course I have ever been on!

Here are some pictures of the nights festivities. That is right you are seeing correct that is a keg of Mooselight. 50 litres of the golden drink. They said we couldn't finish it. It was kinda like hoisting Lord Stanley's cup.

Canada Day

Well thank you mother nature. I find time to use the ol' 4-off once a year and you make it somewhat of a crappy day. We packed the boat up and headed up river to Amanda's family cottage on the Bellisle Bay. We stopped onlong the way to have a bbq on the beach and that is where the sky opened up on us. We all huddled under the boat cover for about an hour or so waiting for it to pass.
